Job Description

A busy law firm is seeking a detail-driven Docketing Specialist to provide comprehensive litigation and non-litigation calendaring support. This role is fully remote and requires strong knowledge of court rules, deadlines, and docketing procedures. The ideal candidate is accurate, proactive, and experienced supporting multiple practice areas.

While a fully-remote opportunity, candidate must reside in California.

Responsibilities include researching and calculating deadlines, entering and maintaining calendar events, reviewing docket reports, ensuring compliance with calendaring procedures, and communicating regularly with attorneys, paralegals, and practice staff. You will also assist with training on docketing processes, respond to information requests, and collaborate closely with the docketing team to maintain accuracy and reduce risk.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain entries in the firm's automated docket system
  • Research court rules to compute deadlines for state, federal, and appellate courts
  • Communicate with attorneys and staff to clarify assignments and requirements
  • Escalate issues as needed and ensure all relevant documents are attached to docket entries
  • Create, review, and distribute docket and calendar reports
  • Maintain accurate case details, including parties, venues, jurisdictions, and responsible attorneys
  • Respond to questions regarding deadlines and calendared events
  • Provide training and guidance on docketing procedures and reports
  • Support team members and assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with firm processes

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3-5 years of docketing/calendaring experience in a law firm
  • Strong knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and deadlines
  • Experience calculating deadlines across multiple jurisdictions
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain calendaring information clearly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting deadlines
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting multiple offices or practice areas
  • Familiarity with PACER and Electronic Court Filings (ECF)
  • Experience with BEC Docket Enterprise
